where has the time gone? somehow Shay is all grown up & we’re already celebrating his very first birthday. this day feels monumental for so many reasons- a year of his life, our first year as parents, one year of breastfeeding after one heck of a ride with oral ties. this year grew me, stretched me, and changed me in all the best ways. it was so fun getting to celebrate our sunshine boy with all of our favorite people!

we were going to have his party at a local park, but sadly the weather didn’t get the sunshine memo! so we turned the conference room at my office into a party space & it worked out perfectly.

the food

it was 11 pm the night before the party & I still hadn’t made a final decision on food. I was going for yellow/orange-themed foods + drinks and knew I wanted fruity drinks but couldn’t nail down the food. but, I also wanted to serve food Shay would love. the creative vision struck in classic night-owl fashion, and we decided on chicken & waffles- his favs! we ordered a chickfila tray & toasted up some eggo waffles- it was a major hit for adults and kids!

the drinks

I’d seen some sort of wedding display of these Izze drinks displayed in an ombre on a table, and that’s where my vision came from! we went for grapefruit, clementine & peach and they made the cutest little combination on the table. I also grabbed San Pelligrino drinks in red, orange & yellow for the other side of the table, a few juices, and a big pitcher of lemon water in the center.

the decor

I kept it really simple on decor — just a few balloons with gold confetti in them. we didn’t have any weights, so I tied them to a few oranges and called it a day! my friend Nat painted the sweetest banner for him which we hung on the wall, & Shay’s cute little knit crown & his beeswax birthday candles were really the only other things I bought.

it was the sweetest day getting to celebrate our happy little sunshine boy!
